If you happen to be running around in the Grand Prairie, Alberta Canada area, check out Beacon artist Deb Davidowits' video "Shadow Play" that is included in the Prairie Art Gallery's Here Now or Nowhere exhibit, which runs from January 6-February 2, 2009. Here Now or Nowhere is a storefront exhibition of video and installation by13 artists in downtown Grand Prairie. Deb's video is installed at the Wonderland Toy and Hobby store. From an item on the exhibit in the local Daily Herald Tribune: "The video has a white background with black paper-cut puppets, capturing their shadows as they interact and “do cute little performances."
HVCCA is hosting a round table discussion on Sunday to accompany the Peekskill Project which is on view through November 23.
The discussion is scheduled to begin at 4pm and speakers include Peekskill Project Curators and Artists; Michael Foley from Foley Gallery, Ombretta Agro’Andruff, Evonne M. Davis and Emma Wilcox from Gallery Aferro, Joyce Manalo from ArtForward, Michael Anthony Natiello from Collbrative Concepts and artist Deborah Fisher, Ryan Schroeder, and Stephanie Lempert.
Kirsten Kucer is representing Beacon in this year's 10x10x10 exhibit in Ellenville. The storefront exibit featuring ten artists from ten Hudson Valley communities opened on June 29 and will continue through October 5.

If you happen to not be in Beacon on the evening of May 17 but up Hudson way instead, be sure to check out the exhibit Plugged In. The two week long exhibit will encompass a length of Warren St. seeded with New Media installations. Around 15 artists hailing from the region, some comprising collaborative teams, who incorporate new technologies into their artistic practice will be creating site specific and interactive pieces. Here's a brief write up from this month's Chronogram.I've traded a few emails with the exhibit curator, Melissa Stafford, but I've only just now become aware of the extent of the exhibit as a site specific exhibit inhabiting the various environs, inside and out, of a stretch of Warren St.The opening reception will be held at the PARC Foundation at 330 and 336 Warren St. and will include a number of performances in both spaces. I won't be able to make it to the opening, and it's doubtful that I'll be able to catch the exhibit before it ends on May 31, but I'll try. If anyone makes it to the opening or does see the exhibit, I'd be very interested in hearing about it.
