The Art Handler's Ball - volunteers needed

Jill Reynolds has stepped up to coordinate a volunteer crew that can prepare and install the Peace Pals Postcard Exhibit. Some 3500 postcards created by children from around the world are going to be on exhibit in storefronts along Beacon's Main St from Sept 13-28.

To that end, Jill is planning a mega art handler party - a party so mega, that it will traverse two evenings and a Saturday morning.
Volunteers are needed to help mount the postcards on foamcore boards, then install them in the storefronts. The work party is planned to take place in Beacon on the evenings of Thursday Sept 11 and Friday Sept 12, and if needed, Saturday morning.

I'd imagine that the skill set required is not so high that the average concientious citizen that can level a line and who has a working knowledge of Velcro would be prevented from helping out. The more the merrier.
If the party gets out of hand, remember that friends don't let friends hang artwork drunk.

Swimming Cities Beacon Performance info

On behalf of the Swimming Cities of Switchback Seas, Open Space is looking for a couple of volunteers to help guide people from the train station to Beacon Point where the performance is set to happen.
They're also hoping to borrow some of those solar garden lights to illuminate the path to the performance site.

Dia:Beacon seeking volunteers for Jan 12-13

Dia:Beacon has a full schedule of events this weekend revolving around the second in a series of Merce Cunningham performances:

Dia:Beacon is looking for a few people to help out during the Merce
Cunningham performance this coming Saturday & Sunday. Volunteers are
needed to assist with taking tickets, handing out programs & general
crowd control.
If you can or know someone who can volunteer their time (1pm
– 4pm on Saturday and/or 1pm – 3pm on Sunday) please contact Caroline
Schneider in Visitor Services at 440-0100 x29. Tickets are $25 for
non-members and nearly sold out for both performances. This is a great
way to see the performance at no charge!

The Beacon Halloween Fest invites artists to participate in the Jack O'lantern event, and parade:

The Jack O’ Lantern Fest is an event in which artists, families, and locals of all kinds are invited to come and carve a great creation from pumpkins! We are hoping as many artists as possible come, carve a pumpkin and light it up as the sun goes down to create a grand spectacle of
Jacks!

We will have about 50 medium sized pumpkins for sale but anyone is welcome to bring a pumpkin or pre-carved Jack to the event.

A contest will be held to judge the best pumpkins in the child and adult categories. Only pumpkins that are carved at the event will be judged.

Refreshments and desserts will also be sold at the event. All proceeds to towards more and better holiday events for next year so come show your support!

Date and Time and other info:
Saturday October 27th from 3pm until just after dusk where we will light ‘em
up! Candles will be supplied but we ask that you bring your favorite carving
tool. Beacon Art Supply has some great tools that make great carvers!

As a side note we welcome all artists to create a float for this year’s Halloween Parade.

Beacon Community Center seeks artists for Senior Activities Program.
