Things happening tomorrow.....How's that for a lazy headline.

Hang on, here's a lightening round post for a few things  that are going on tomorrow.

Collaborative Concepts is opening the 2009 version of Saunders Farm sculpture exhibit.  This is the project's fourth year.  All of the pertinent details are on the group's 2009 blog. Opening reception is happening from 2-6pm and the show will run thorugh Halloween.

Van Brunt Gallery is opening an exhibit of Peter Bynum's paintings on glass.

Up in Poughkeepsie, at G.A.S, Franc Palaia has curated an exhibit of work that examines the bridges of the Hudson River.  The exhibit, Bridges and the Span of Time includes the work of 50 artists.  The opening reception will be happening from  2-9pm.

Collaborative Concepts 2008 at Saunders Farm opens

The third annual Collaborative Concepts at Saunders Farm exhibit of out door sculpture is opening this weekend in Garrison. The exhibit organized by Collaborative Concepts will feature the work of some 50 artists spread over the 100 acre farm in Garrison, NY. There will be an opening tomorrow, Aug 31 beginning at 2pm. The exhibit will be open daily from 10 am to dusk, and run through October 31. Reclaimed Home has a couple of photos of James Westwater setting up a sign clad Chateau on the site. The photos were taken by Naomi Sachs, and there are several more on James' website.

Openings tonight at Van Brunt Gallery in Beacon and for Collaborative Concepts in Peekskill

If you're out and about today, there are a few openings happening today.
From 6-9pm tonight here in Beacon, Van Brunt is hosting a reception for the new exhibits of work by Barbara Friedman and Susan English.

Down in Peekskill, Collaborative Concepts is christening the Art Lot with an exhibit of exterior work by Jo-Ann Brody, Jodi Carlson, Ludwig (Doc) Dochterman, Joseph Kleinmann, Jim Lloyd, Michael Anthony Natiello. An opening reception will be held from 5-8pm tonight.
The Art lot is located between the Bear Mountain Parkway and the Hat Factory, which is at 1000 Division St., and it's on the West side of Division St.

Collaborative Concepts at the Hat Factory, Peekskill May 3-June 22

Collaborative Concepts is holding an invitational group exhibit opening this Saturday, May 3 at the Hat Factory in Peekskill NY.

Now, if you know Peekskill just a little, and you think, "oh, Division St., that must be downtown," that thinking would be incorrect. The Hat Factory is north of Peekskill located just north of the Bear Mountain Parkway on your left (as you head north.)

Collaborative Concepts at Saunder's Farm opens Saturday

Collaborative Concepts second exhibit at Saunder's Farm in Cold Spring will be opening this Saturday, Sept 1. A reception is scheduled on the first from 2 to 6pm with a rain date of Sept. 2 from 2 to 6. The exhibit runs through Oct. 31, and there are mid-run and closing receptions scheduled. Collaborative Concepts seeks proposals for Saunders' Farm Project

COLLABORATIVE CONCEPTS: THE SAUNDERS' FARM PROJECT

After an extremely successful exhibition last season, Collaborative
Concepts has been invited by Sandy Saunders to create an exhibition of outdoor
art on his 140 acre historic farm on Old Albany Post Road in Garrison for 2007.
COLLABORATIVE CONCEPTS is a not-for-profit arts organization, which has
presented exhibitions at four different sites over the past 7 years. Technical
support is provided by the Putnam Arts Council, Joyce Picone, Executive
Director.
Members of the exhibition committee for the Saunders' Farm Project
include: Herman Roggeman, Sheilah Rechtschaffer, Robert Brush, Nancy Bauch, Eric
Arctander, Sarah Haviland, Thomas Faulkner and Kirsten Kucer

SITE DESCRIPTION:
Saunders' Farm is located on the historic earthen highway
of the original route between New York City and Albany. Entering through the
main gate one passes the 18th century farm house and working out-buildings. The
property begins with rolling pastures and culminates on a majestic ridge with
360 degree views of the Hudson Highlands. Black Angus cattle roam free. Sites
for art range from intimate woody glens to open fields and dramatic large scale
expanses defined by stone farm walls and forest.
To present a proposal you are first required to visit the
site. Please make arrangements with a C.C. contact person.
YOUR ART: You may propose art of any size or medium.
However, the art must be "cow friendly": the cattle live here, so nothing that
they could trip over or in (no holes), or harm themselves by bumping into (no
sharp edges), or become trapped or entangled in (no cables) will be accepted.
Your art must also be “cow resistant”. The cattle are very curious about new
events in their environment. They will examine, push, bump, knock over art. Your
art cannot be made of fragile materials. Protecting such art is virtually
impossible; think of them as massive SUV’s. Such art must not be accessible to
them either sited where they do not range or significantly above their heads
Weather must also be a consideration- rain and extremely high winds are
common in the Hudson Highlands. Your art must be structurally sound and
anchored. Grass can grow quite high on this working farm. Mowing is not done on
Collaborative Concepts schedule/ Because of the aforementioned site conditions,
C.C. can assume NO RESPONSIBILITY for your art. We have learned that cows and
weather rule and, in fact, that has become a condition of the art that can be
aesthetically enriching. THE SITE MUST BE RETURNED TO ITS ORIGINAL CONDITION AT
THE CONCLUSION OF THE EXHIBITION; i.e. all materials must be removed. Grass will
grow back and is not a condition of this clause.

Site specific art is encouraged. The committee will make
every effort to secure your desired space. The committee has the final
determination as to the selection and placement of the art. Collaborative
Concepts recognizes that art is a creative process and that artists may wish to
modify or change their art during the course of this project. However all such
modifications and changes must be approved by the curators."

C.C. if any modifications or changes are considered. Works of art that are not
approved by the curators will be removed from the site (your deposit will be
applied to the removal). Every effort will be made to assist you in the
installation of your art through collaboration with other artists. However,
installation is the responsibility of the artist.

EXPENSES
There are no fees to participate in the exhibition. All
art must be funded independently. Collaborative Concepts does not fund art. The
art is not insured by Collaborative Concepts. Collaborative Concepts
accepts no responsibility for damage to the art by whatever cause.
Collaborative Concepts will create and print an announcement card; each artist
will receive a limited number. Collaborative Concepts will issue press releases
and advertise locally. Artists may create their own publicity with text
approved by the committee. A commission of 30% to Collaborative Concepts
is expected on all sales from the exhibition.

Collaborative Concepts is pleased to announce that we
have formed a partnership for this exhibition with The Studio, Armonk,
Westchester which is also a not-for-profit, non-membership, 501c3 organization.
Artists who have shown with C.C. or are part of this year’s Farm Project have
the opportunity to exhibit in The Studio’s sculpture garden. Selected artists
from The Studio will participate in the Farm Project. The Studio exhibition will
run for one year~ opening Saturday,
8 September one week after our opening.

Nelsons "Electric Chair Cuts," satirizes the notion that we are all only a haircut away from possessing a sense of authenticity that distances us from the crowd. He straps a willing accomplice into a chair, and with a pair of amplified scissors attached by wires to a power-pack on his back, attacks the unruly mane of hair. By theatricalizing the "performance" of a haircut, Nelson suggests that the codes of individuality as filtered through fashion, are just that -- theater. In Nelson's knowing hands, the boundary between the external and the internal shed their dichotomous nature, becoming a single route to a reinvestigation of the self.

“Flow: Navigating the Super Paradigm” is a multi media exhibition consisting of work by 22 contemporary artists using a broad spectrum of work including painting, sculpture, drawing, photography and video. Referencing the term “Super Paradigm” to describe the growing New York art world by Village Voice art critic Jerry Saltz. The exhibition will explore the vast “flow” of ideas and diverse methods contemporary artists use to navigate through this “Super Paradigm”. In the process creating work that is at times self-reflective, and personal while remaining aware o f the issues affecting the world, the nature of their artistic practice, and contemporary art today.

This exhibition is the first in Collaborative Concepts new gallery space located at Bulldog Studios in Beacon, New York. The artists in the exhibition hail from Puerto Rico, Brooklyn, Queens, Manhattan, Connecticut, Beacon, and other areas of the Hudson Valley.
