Ok, let's start playing a bit of catch up here.

Alison Moritsugu's work is included in the group exhibit American Story at the Kohler Arts Center in Sheboygan MI. which will remain on view through January 2010.

I missed posting about Steve Rossi's participation in the Lilliput exhibit at Seton Hall which ended on July 23.  Steve was represented in the exhibit in which no work was larger by 1.5" in dimension by two of his miniature chewing gum camouflage modules. A pdf version of the exhibition catalogue of the exhibition contains images of the work.

Shawn Trail and Jennifer Trail will be setting up house in Copenhagen for the coming year.  Shawn has received a Fulbright Scholarship with which he plans, according to a story in LoHud.com, " to design and develop an electro-acoustic, midi-equipped zylophone."

The working portion of my Summer vacation, had me assisting my own little piece of Germany, Angelika Rinnhofer, with the installation of her two person exhibit with Beatrice Haverich at the Museum Industrie Kultur in Nuernberg, Germany.  PDN Magazine sported one of Ms. Rinnhofer's images on the cover of July's "Fine Art" issue.  The cover story covers the role of non profit galleries in the world of photography and includes some words of wisdom from CPW director Arial Shanberg.

Peter Iannarelli is one of the artists selected to participate in the 2009 Mohawk-Hudson Regional Exhibition  by this year's juror Matthew Higgs.  The exhibit will remain on view at the University of Albany's University Art Museum through August 8.

I'm taking part in the 10x10x10 exhibit in Ellenville this year.  Instead of a singular installation in my given storefront location, I'm doing a series of consecutive projects through the run of the show which ends in October.  The first installation TORRENT or FORRENT which will be on view for another week or so includes For Rent signs created by Todd Sargood, Erica Hauser, Heather Sardanopoli, Franc Palaia.

Headline Envy & Alison Moritsugu in the press

Today in his Weekend Round up of links, Tyler Green at MAN included a piece from San Diego Union-Tribune art critic Robert Pincus, eye-rollingly titled "Painter's Log" which traces the development Alison Moritsugu's work.
I'm just embarrassed that a headline that cheesy never occurred to me. That's why I don't get paid for this stuff.
Alison's residency at Lux Art in San Diego came to a close this weekend.

Alison Moritsugu kicks off an exhibit of her work and a month-long residency today at the Lux Art Institute in San Diego, CA.

Ideas about ecology, history, and commerce come to life in the work of New
York painter Alison Moritsugu as she examines our relationship with the
environment and explores the meaning of “paradise." During her residency, Moritsugu will research regional, native, and invasive plants whose forms will become design motifs for the wallpaper she creates in the Lux studio.

Alison will be in residence at Lux through December 6. The exhibit of her work will remain on view through January 3, 2009.

Alison Moritsugu in Repostioning the Landscape in Westport, Ct.

Alison Moritsugu is among the artists participating in exhibit called Repositioning the Landscape, curated by Jennifer Mcgregor at the Wesport Arts Center in Westport, CT. The exhibit opened on Jan 11 and will run through February 24, 2008.
Other artists included in the exhibit are: Colin brant, Gregory Crane, Kevin Duggan, Peter Edlund, N.W. Gibbons, Cadence Giersbach, Jason Middlebrook, Jon Rappleye and Peter Seward.
A curator's talk will be held on Weds. Jan 23 at 7pm.
There will be an additional talk on the exhibit by Tom O'Connor on Feb 7 at 9:30 am.

Settling in

I made it back home this weekend, and I am reacclimating myself after my extended stay out West.



Before I left town, I noticed a for rent sign in the window of Freshman Fine Art. Driving by there yesterday I saw the space is now empty.



Last Weekend's Enjoy section of the POJO included a feature on Open Space's "Limited Run" exhibit of prints and zines.



Alison Moritsugu's exhibit at The Contemporary Museum at First Hawaiian Center is the subject of a write up in the Honolulu Star Bulletin from Dec 9. The story includes several images of exhibition artworks.



If you're interested in hearing more about the recent news that the Dia Foundation is selling its building in Chelsea, Tyler Green of MAN had a brief conversation yesterday with Dia Director Jeffrey Weiss on the subject of the sale, and the fate of the Jorge Pardo piece.



Also, befitting the season of giving, Tyler has highlighted an organization called DonorsChoose.org which allows donors to choose and directly fund small projects posted by public school teachers. Everyday through Christmas, Tyler will feature one project on his blog. Yesterday's project came from a teacher in Fort Wayne, Indiana hoping to build an art book library for her students.

Alison Moritsugu's exhibit of recent work, Paradise Revisited opened on Oct 5 at The Contemporary Museum at First Hawaiian Center in Honolulu, Hawai'i. The exibit will run through January 8, 2008.
Alison who was born and raised in Hawai'i says "This new work is about my return visits to Hawai'i and about the changes I have seen affecting the island's culture and land. "
